Every job starts with an $80 on-site estimate that comes off your bill if you go ahead. You get the options in writing before any work starts.
Our water heater services
Tankless Water Heater Installation
We install new tankless water heaters and replace older tankless units that have reached the end of their life. Correct sizing for cold Connecticut groundwater is the key to steady hot water. We also add service valves so the unit can be descaled easily later.Tank-to-Tankless Conversion
Switching from a tank to tankless is more than a swap. It often means a larger gas line, new venting, a wall mount and a drain for condensation. We check whether your home can support the change before you commit.Water Heater Repair
We repair gas, electric and tankless water heaters that have stopped making hot water, are leaking, or are making strange noises. We find the cause, explain it, and tell you honestly whether repair is worth it or replacement makes more sense.Water Heater Maintenance
Regular maintenance helps your heater last longer and run better. For tanks, that means flushing out sediment and checking the anode rod. For tankless units, it means descaling the heat exchanger and cleaning the inlet filter. What water heater service covers
Your water heater is one of the hardest working machines in your home. It heats water for showers, laundry, dishes and handwashing every day, all year. Most homeowners never think about it until the shower runs cold or a puddle shows up on the basement floor.
Water heater service covers everything from the first sign of trouble to a full replacement. That includes fixing a heater that has stopped working, swapping a worn out tank, installing a tankless unit, and keeping an existing heater healthy with regular flushing and checks.
- Tank water heaters: gas, propane and electric models that store heated water.
- Tankless water heaters: wall-mounted units that heat water only when you turn on a faucet.
- Indirect tanks: storage tanks heated by your boiler instead of their own burner.
- Repairs: no hot water, leaks, pilot and ignition faults, odd noises.
- Maintenance: flushing sediment, checking the anode rod, descaling tankless units.
Why water heaters fail
Sediment at the bottom of the tank
Most tank heaters fail from the inside out. Minerals in your water settle as sediment at the bottom of the tank. That layer makes the burner or element work harder, causes rumbling noises and shortens the life of the tank.
A used-up anode rod
Inside every tank sits an anode rod: a metal rod that corrodes on purpose so the steel tank does not. Once the rod is used up, the tank itself starts to rust. Rusty water and leaks from the bottom of the tank usually mean it is too late to repair.
Scale inside tankless units
Tankless units fail differently. Scale builds up inside the heat exchanger, the part that transfers heat into your water. That cuts hot water flow, triggers error codes and, left alone, can damage the unit.
Why local water and winters matter
Many homes in the smaller River Valley and shoreline towns rely on private wells. Hard or iron-rich well water speeds up sediment build-up and wears out anode rods faster. A heater on well water often needs more attention than one on town water.
Connecticut winters matter too. Incoming water is much colder in January than in July, so your heater works harder and longer to reach the same temperature. Tankless units deliver less hot water per minute when groundwater is cold, which is why sizing for winter is so important.
Repair, replace or upgrade
Some problems are worth fixing
Not every problem means a new heater. A failed thermocouple, igniter, heating element or thermostat can often be replaced, and your heater keeps working for years. A leaking tank, on the other hand, cannot be patched safely.
When repair stops making sense
Age, the cost of the repair and the condition of the tank all factor into the decision. If your tank is near the end of its life, putting money into a major repair rarely pays off. We walk you through both options so you can choose.
Replacement is a chance to upgrade
Replacement is also a chance to rethink your setup. A growing family may need a larger tank. A home that runs out of hot water every morning may be a good fit for tankless. A heater in a tight closet may need a different model or venting. We look at how you actually use hot water before recommending anything.

Our scheduling system sends you a reminder before the technician pulls in.One company for water, gas and venting
A water heater touches three trades at once: water piping, fuel and venting. Our Connecticut plumbing license covers the water side. Our heating license covers gas piping and venting. That means one company can handle the whole install, including a larger gas line for a tankless conversion.
A shop that focuses on water heaters
We focus on water heaters. That focus means our technicians see the same failures again and again, and they know what to look for. A heater that rumbles, a tank that leaks at the base, a tankless unit throwing an error code: these are everyday calls for us.
An estimate visit, not a phone guess
Our $80 on-site estimate is a real visit, not a phone guess. A technician looks at your heater, your fuel supply, your venting and your water. If you go ahead with the work, the $80 is credited toward the job. If you don't, you still keep the information.
Booked appointments with reminders
Scheduling runs through Housecall Pro, so you can book online or by phone. You get a confirmed appointment and a reminder before the technician arrives, so you are not left waiting at home all day. When the work is done, the technician cleans up and walks you through what was done.
Small commercial jobs too
We also work with small commercial customers, including restaurants with busy kitchens. Commercial hot water demand is very different from a home, and we size and plan those jobs with that in mind.

From first call to hot water
Here is what happens from your first call to hot water running again. The steps are the same whether you need a repair, a replacement or a new tankless unit.
The five steps
Call or book online
Tell us what is happening and what type of heater you have. We set a time and send you a reminder before we arrive.On-site estimate
A licensed technician inspects the heater, fuel supply, venting and water lines. The $80 fee is credited if you go ahead.Clear options
We explain what we found and give you your options in writing, including repair versus replacement where both make sense. The work
We protect your floors, remove the old unit if needed, install or repair, and connect water, fuel and venting.Test and walkthrough
We test for leaks, check venting and temperature, then show you how to use and look after your heater.
Your first call
When you call, we ask a few simple questions. Is it gas, propane or electric? Tank or tankless? How old is it, if you know? Is water leaking? These answers help us bring the right parts and set the right amount of time for your visit.
The estimate visit
At the estimate visit, the technician looks at more than the heater itself. Venting has to carry exhaust safely outside. Gas lines have to be large enough for the appliance. Water lines, shutoff valves and the pressure relief valve all need to be in working order. Problems in any of these can affect the price and the plan.
Options in writing before work starts
Before any work starts, you see the options and the cost in writing. If repair makes sense, we say so. If the tank is leaking or near the end of its life, we explain why replacement is the better use of your money. You decide, with no pressure.
Permits
Many Connecticut towns require a permit for water heater replacement. Check with your town building department, and ask us at the estimate if you have questions about how it applies to your home.
Install day
On install day, we shut off the water and fuel, drain the old tank and carry it out. The new heater goes in level, with proper connections and venting. Then we refill, fire it up, check for leaks and confirm the water is reaching a safe, comfortable temperature.
Before we leave
Before we leave, we show you where the shutoff valve is, how to check the pressure relief valve, and what maintenance your new heater needs. A few minutes of care each year can add years to its life.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. We hold Connecticut heating license HTG.0410608-S1 and Connecticut plumbing license PLM.0292074-P2, and the company is fully insured. Together, the two licenses cover the water piping, gas piping and venting a water heater needs, so one company can handle the whole job from start to finish.
Our on-site estimate costs $80. A licensed technician visits, inspects your heater, fuel supply, venting and water lines, and gives you your options in writing. If you go ahead with the work, the $80 is credited toward the job, so you are not paying for it twice.
We price each job after seeing it in person. The type and size of heater, fuel, venting needs, gas line size, access to the space and any code updates all affect the cost. You get the price in writing before work starts, so there are no surprises when the job is done.
Call us as soon as you lose hot water or see a leak, and we will tell you honestly when we can get there. In the meantime, shut off the cold water supply to the heater and turn off its gas or power to limit damage until a technician arrives.
New water heaters come with a manufacturer warranty on the tank and parts. Tank warranties commonly run 6 to 12 years depending on the model, and tankless heat exchangers often carry longer coverage. We go over the warranty for the specific unit you choose before you decide.
Connecticut towns generally require a permit for water heater replacement, because the work involves gas, venting and safety valves. Rules and fees vary by town, so check with your town building department. You can also ask our technician at the estimate visit how it applies to your home.
It depends on the age of the heater, the cost of the repair and the condition of the tank. A failed part on a younger heater is usually worth fixing. A leaking tank cannot be repaired safely. We show you both options and let you choose what fits your budget.
Yes, we work with small commercial customers, including restaurants with busy kitchens. Commercial hot water demand is much higher than a home's, so sizing and planning matter even more. Call us to talk through your building, your current setup and how much hot water you need at peak times.
